Creating, Rather than Rearranging
Poem, written in 1972 upon seeing a miserable-looking dog tied to a post while walking to work, about creating happiness from misery.
Sadness, misery everywhere:
the natural mediums
with which we have to work.
We must make
happiness
from these.
Only then are we truly Gods,
or God-like:
Creating,
rather than merely mixing,
rearranging,
or putting together the parts
of what was there before
and making of it
only more.
– Ned B., 1972
A deep, meaningful poem Ned.
Thank you for giving us something to process within.
Thank you, Robin, deep and meaningful, yes, and more poetic (though not as succinct) as the old adage: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”
