Table setting for Christmastime
On the dining room table sits a red tablecloth. Two ecru-colored, intricately crocheted trivets lead up to an ecru-colored table runner, a 4×4 grid of crocheted squares. Atop the table runner sits a porcelain carousel, Santa and four other Christmas characters swing in seats suspended from the rotating porcelain canopy. All this while the music box loops a Christmas song, “Here Comes Santa Claus.”
The clip is an overhead dolly shot, simulated by me holding my cellphone camera over the center-line of the table as I walked down the side of the table.
It turned out great on the first (and only) take. Mostly dumb luck (a bit of planning, noting mentally how long it took the music box to complete its refrain) and the camera movement, in time with the start and end of the music.
The video even loops without missing a beat. No editing of any sort (except to display “imagiNed.com” for a few frames) so the sound and stabilization are not the best. Even so…
