Imagine: The Fool, The Priest and The Magician – Ned’s Birthday Fable
“Imagine living the life you imagined.” The magician posed the question and the fool answered before the priest could speak up. “That would be magic,” remarked the fool, humoring the magician. “That would be godly,” proclaimed the priest a moment later.
“Imagine living the life you imagined.” A most profound sentence. My most profound sentence. For now.
Today is April 1, April Fool’s Day. (More …)

My Year of Living Strangerously
Maybe it’s time to start baring my soul to strangers… Not really “baring,” maybe more like wearing one of those peek-a-boo thingies that leave some of the naughty bits covered and some peeking out. What you’re in for, then, is not so much a “soul baring” as a “soul peek-a-boo.” Or maybe it’s time for me to just start being stranger or at least behaving a bit more strangerously. I’m going to start telling people that I’m a make-up artist, because I … (More …)

The Ant and the Grasshopper and the Bee (and me)
A sop’s fable: I have always been much more like the grasshopper than the ant in Aesop’s fable. Now that my personal winter is here and I’m shivering and hungry, I still don’t want to be like the (corporate) ant. So I’ve become the busy bee in my business, buzzing between ideas and implementations, bumbling sometimes, but collecting nectar wherever I find it. It’s a sweet life, and I don’t have to suck pre-processed sticky stuff off some aphid’s butt.

April Fool’s Day – two weeks away and I’m splitting
April Fool’s Day has always been a sort of second New Year’s Day for me. It provides me with a springtime-fresh start for new initiatives that might have – should have – could have come at New Year’s, but some reason, weren’t ready. Usually that reason is me: Not Ready Neddie. Well, this year is no different. (Last year was different though; last year, April 1st was a hard, sad day, as those closest to me know.) Usually, on April Fool’s Day, … (More …)

Bye Bye 2009 – Hello 2010 – Happy New Year!
Bye Bye 2009: A year of breakdowns, financially, romantically, etc. and then the last month of 2009… well, it went out with a bang: PC broke down, car broke down, business broke down, health broke down, hope broke down. But hey, the entire decade sucked for so many, why should I feel special? Hello 2010: It’s a new year, a new decade, and somehow I’ll start anew too. With a cool new cooling system, my PC is (almost) as good as new. … (More …)

Getting Buddha Unstuck
My new client, Mary, mentioned her “Buddha being stuck” as a reason for not moving forward on her website. I said, “What, is he stuck in a phone booth?” No, she laughed, she’d been reading a book titled If the Buddha Got Stuck about a way of Buddha-like awareness/action mixed with new-age philosophy based self-therapy techniques. Aha, I understood. Nevertheless, in order to help my client get her “Buddha unstuck” (and for us to get started on her website), I created this … (More …)
