Ruins of an earlier era uncovered while excavating for new construction

I just commented on Tom Degan’s Mickey-Mouse-America melancholy musings of a blog post, and to leave a comment I had to use my Google Blogger ID. Well, I haven’t used that ID in years, and when I clicked on it, it took me back to my years-old, abandoned and forgotten blog section on this website.

Now this feels to me like I’ve uncovered architectural ruins of an earlier civilization while clearing a site for the construction of modern, high-rise edifice. What’s most enchanting is that this earlier incarnation of my imagiNed.com blog pre-announces my plans for this imagiNed.com site as it’s finally beginning to be now, years later.

Fort Point stradled by the Golden Gate BridgeI’m thinking I will preserve my old blog and keep it visible within my new CMS driven site, as an anthropological artifact. Engineers did the same thing when they designed the Golden Gate Bridge and built an extra arch over historic Fort Point. And, I guess that’s my point.
